Jet Skiing is a high powered extreme sport. You can use a stand up or sit on jet ski. The sit on skis are generally more powerful but the stand up skis are used for more freestyling moves and stunts. Great fun to do but we do recommend that you have lessons first as conditions have got to be correct and there are many safety guidelines to learn.

Freestyle jet skiing is done on the stand up skis as they are lighter and more agile. The tricks that are performed off waves are similar to the tricks that you would find in motorcross or BMX consisting of big airs, hood tricks and technical tricks.

The freestyle world is made up of different competitions into which anyone can enter. In the UK the first competition amateurs enter is the 'FNT' (Freestyle National Tour).

Cost and Equipment

Training Courses  -  Certificate of Competence is a one day course and will set you back around £140

Jet Ski  -  These vary a lot in price. Brand new you are looking at paying £5000 and upwards but you can get good condition second hand jet skis for a lot less and there are loads of them about so shop around.

Trailer  -  Around the £300 mark but if you buy a jet ski second hand the trailer is normally included in the price

Wetsuit  -  Spend no less than £100 on a winter wetsuit

Helmet  -  Around £40

Buoyancy Aids  -  Start at around £35

Gloves  -  Wetsuit gloves are around £20

Boots  -  Wetsuit boots are around £25
