snowmobile

Snowmobiling is not a particularly well known extreme sport but it involves a snowmobile (funnily enough) which is extremely powerful and allows the rider to get some serious air and speed. A little like quad biking but for Eskimos!

Unless you're minted with a holiday home in a snow covered country, this extreme sport is probably something you will give a go on your holiday.

Snowmobiles ride just like a quad bike but with a lot more power. The caterpillar track at the rear of the snowmobile propels you along at butt clenching speeds while the two skis at the front steer you. Just!

Where to go, Cost and Equipment

Where

Find the snow and you have found where you can snowmobile. This machine can be used in all conditions. There are many locations all around the world but for big, wide open plains of snow, North America and Canada would definitely be worth a visit. Check with your travel agent.

Cost and Equipment

Tours  -  Tours will probably be the only time you get to use a snowmobile if you live in the UK and these can range from £99 right up to around £300, depending on the country. Again, check with your travel agent.

Snowmobiles  -  Around £5000 and up for brand new, second hand can be much cheaper and can be in very good condition so shop around.

Snow Jacket  -  Around £80

Snow Trousers  -  Around £50

Helmet  -  From around £40

Goggles  -  Around £25 (you will only need these if you don't have a full face helmet)
