Static Line
If you don’t want to be strapped to an instructor but don’t want to spend the money on learning to skydive, then try this. You jump from the plane at around 4,000 feet. There is a cord attached to the plane that deploys your parachute for you. An instructor on the ground guides you to the landing zone through a radio connection.
The age restriction for a static line jump is 16. Under 18s need parental consent. The upper age limit is 49 and over 40s need medical approval from the doctor.
The weight limit for a static line jump is 15 stone.
Solo Courses
If you want to become a skydiver, then this is the one for you. After a day in a class room you will taken up to around 13,000 feet to do a solo jump with two instructors. They will hold on to you while you try to steady yourself as you have been shown in the class room. At around 4,500 they will ask you to pull the rip cord and an instructor on the ground will guide you down through radio connection. To become a skydiver you must complete 8 levels consisting of around 8 jumps over 8 days, weather permitting.
